The Annanagar, Jerusalem Marthoma Syrian Church choir is considered as one of the best choirs of the Marthoma Church. The Senior Choir, 40 in number is ably led by Mr. Ebi Abraham, our choir Master.
The Choir assists the Vicar regularly in the Sunday worship service by taking the lead in singing songs for both English and Malayalam services. The choir held practices regularly on Saturday evenings from 6.30pm to 9pm. The choir also assists during occasions such as Marriage ceremonies, Baptisms, the Christmas Carol service and the New Year service. The Choir also is participating in the Madras Ecumenical Christmas Carol(MECF) Service since its inception.
Ms. Rhea M John, Ms. Richu Susan Thomas, Mr. Kuruvilla Abraham, Mr. Johan Abraham and Mr. Mervin Joe Joseph are providing support on the key board. Mr. Vijay John assisted the choir during the worship service with Malayalam and English chants and also composes songs for Christmas carols.
Mrs. Sally George is serving as the Vice President of the choir while Mr. Sibi G Thomas is serving as the secretary, Ms. Donna Merin John as Joint secretary and Mr. Sabu John as Treasurer.
The junior choir consists of 40 little ones and is trained and led by Mrs. Sally George. The junior choir participates in the Christmas Carols along with the senior choir.
